MARVEL STARS 2:
- The Secret Avengers 2: Secret Histories (2).
The team of Steve Rogers is on Mars where Nova has visited and given no sign of life. On site, inspect a hero of mine and made several discoveries Roxxon successive drilling huge temple guarded by a giant, officials of the sect of the Serpent, and Nova in the grip of a mysterious force .. .
Meanwhile, Sharon Carter was the track by Nick Fury who was attacked and captured the crown of the Snake ...
Ed Brubaker seems to have fun with these adventures is no shortage of exotic and detonate in an author more accustomed to urban settings and the heroes are less spectacular. Yet it is quite comfortable in this register and starts his story in a rhythm both supported and quiet, slowly evolving plot twists regular but gentle. The dynamics of the team is excellent, each character has his moment, and it separates into small groups of two or three to explore Mars and the face those who are already there.
is a real treat.
Mike Deodato mostly this episode illustrates, assisted by Will Conrad (at first sight for scenes with Sharon Carter and Nick Fury, and a few decorations): Their styles blend very well, the illusion is perfect and the result never fails energy. Deodato is to his advantage in the sequences where the heroes crapahutent in galleries and other dark interiors of the base Roxxon, but also in the action scenes where his division broke a hit.
A Faultless.

- Thunderbolts 2: Test size.
As expected, the appearance of Baron Zemo at the end of the previous episode was an excuse to test the loyalty of thugs under the command of Luke Cage. Soon after, the team is sent on a mission in the vicinity of Broxton, Oklahoma, where trolls lurk Asgardians trucident and everything they encounter. But the T-Bolts will have to be done to control them ...
Jeff Parker this merry band anything with a common pleasure: this improbable team, as constituted as its reason for being, is logically sent neutralize opponents grotesque and does not lace.
is far below the Agents of Atlas but you never get bored, even if it is to be hoped that the title could go beyond the joke because if it is entertaining, it is not more indispensable.
Kev Walker emerging talent with bloated faces, but totally forgets the sets and partitioning is very basic: it starts to get annoying, and it could become a handicap for the series that deserves better.
Could do better, even if it's quite tasty and foutraque.

- Hulk 607-608: The Plan - Mission accomplished.
The journal is only his second issue that the summary already changing, with a double ration of Hulk Greg Pak and Paul Pelletier.
I say little because it does not inspire me: this is confusing, both narratively (with a plethora of characters) that graphically (overloaded with boxes). Pak pushes the envelope, but it indigestible. Pelletier shows consistency with the script: it illustrates that pretty lousy with characters grinning surmusclés, a division sultry vignettes crowded - it's tiring to read.
Panini will sacrifice this way: it will not be a great loss.

Review: mixed - The Avengers Secrets dominate the scrum, the T-Bolts can improve, Hulk me pump the air.

Review 210: THOR THE MIGHTY AVENGER - VOL. 1, Roger Langridge and Chris Samnee

Thor The Mighty Avengers Volume 1 together the first 4 episodes (eight) of the series written by Roger Langridge and designed by Chris Samnee , published in 2010 by Marvel Comics.
Episodes 83-84 of Journey Into Mystery , 1963, written by Stan Lee and drawn by Jack Kirby , which appeared for the first time the character of Thor, complete the program.

In view of its film adaptation, the character of Thor was broken down into several series last year, in parallel to the main title which had been revived by J. Michael Straczynski and Olivier Coipel in 2008. The Mighty Thor Avenger was distinguished by both its tone and (alas) by its commercial failure (despite excellent reviews), so it was a very accessible version. Planned for (at least) 12 episodes by its writer, it was canceled after 8 numbers and therefore this collection presents the first half of this production.
JMS Thor resurrected by making a cartoon happy shifted, often contemplative and melancholic, crossed by spectacular action sequences. An author who has slammed the door Marvel after disagreements art (it is considered premature for Thor in the center of a saga as Siege and he had quarreled with the editor-artist Joe Quesada since the end of his run on Amazing Spider-Man , with bow One More Day ) was replaced by Kieron Gillen who himself has just sold his place to Matt Fraction without that magic operates at again.
Roger Langridge, who, among others collaborated Muppet Show , chose to approach the character returning to both the source, that of Kirby and Stan Lee, whose work we can rediscover this album, while rewriting certain elements.
The first of these "revisions" for the location of the story, which does not take place in New York or Los Angeles, but Bergen, Oklahoma, in the heart of America. In this setting novel, reads like a summary of the project is to address the subject while being shifted from the norm.
Then Langridge is the god of thunder a stranger lost at middle of nowhere. Driven from Asgard for a foul which we will not know (at least in terms of these 4 episodes), but large enough to provoke the wrath of his father, Odin, Thor is not only a vagabond, but he lost his powers and memory. This shows that the story does not unfold in the classical continuity (Odin is still alive) while incorporating the ideas of Lee (Thor banished by his father and amnesia).
Thor recovers his powers and part of his memory (he continues to ignore the reason for his banishment) with the assistance of Jane Foster, a curator at Bergen Museum, which provides access to a ballot box where he found his hammer Mjolnir. Again, we note that if Jane Foster was there, she changed jobs (in the classic version is a nurse) but also in status (she is actively involved in the "restoration" of Thor, leaves her fiance for assist in gradually falls in love).
Finally, the story revolves around encounters-encounters: first, that of Thor with Jane Foster, and then that of Thor with which Mr. Hyde is also eyeing a relic of the museum and that of Thor with Giant- Man and Wasp, and finally that of Thor with the 3 warriors (Fandral, and Hogun Volstagg) and Captain Britain. Each time, the scenario is based on a misunderstanding leads to a fight, and leads to a reconciliation (except with Mr Hyde).
* If there is an undeniable quality to The Mighty Thor Avenger is its irreverent humor: Langridge plays with his hero by making a stupid, impulsive, awkward, ignorant even why he was punished but acts without thinking (he takes on Giant-Man, taking him to a giant ice, enemy of Asgardians, or Captain Britain because he asked her to calm down). It's really exhilarating to see the hero, usually majestic emphatic, portrayed as a simpleton, but without doubt is that what has displeased the average reader, reluctant to see their icons abused, even if done more mischief than malice. For Langridge
do not make fun of his hero: he writes like an idiot is an idiot friendly, engaging, attractive, a big kid who knocks the villain and recognizes his faults (even belatedly) . And also because it shows us through the eyes of Jane Foster.
This female character, as interpreted by Langridge, is not a figurehead or a stooge, but a young woman who, like Thor, is looking and, by helping to (re), is also located. This romantic aspect had also confuse the traditional readership, which is more accustomed to this in the current Marvelverse where heroes are primarily couples with heroines and girls which they hide their double lives. The Mighty Thor Avenger is the first romance of a god and a mortal who know everyone who is the other, but not necessarily who they are themselves.
Langridge demonstrated a subtle humor and light to describe the shift and Jane Foster plays the role of an educator by teaching him Thor ordinary things that define humanity, whether to use a telephone, getting dressed discreetly, or out relaxing with friends. She is the hero and guide the reader. With Stan Lee, Jane Foster was the damsel in distress saved by the brave and mighty Thor. In Langridge is a modern young woman, overtaken by events certainly lacking confidence in her, but determined: it hosts Thor without opening her bed (he sleeps on the sofa), and provisionally ( the time it finds the memory).
*
The finesse and charm of the series must drawing a lot of Chris Samnee, whose style contrasts also with the standard (a feature clean but expressive, a very simple and conventional cutting).
Thor's appearance has been altered: less massive, costume design by Coipel slightly modified (the wings of the helmet reduced, fewer coast mesh), it gains in youth and elegance. The influence of artists like Ditko, Toth or school of the "bright line" is obvious, but very well digested by a graphic designer who prefers fair skinned and with great effect. There is a modesty at the same aesthetic time as a real beauty in this book.
*
Thor The Mighty Avenger accomplished a notable feat: it manages to give a real new life to a character who has nearly 50 years in respect to both the keys of the hero and renewing them .
is a comic book that has what is lacking in many productions of super-heroic heart. And that is why this book is irrésisitible - and the commercial failure of this project is terribly annoying. So read and enjoy this gem rarity.
